Colours of the Moon

Who can I blame who can I fight
It's not my fault but noone else can take the weight
And take control
And take it all away
And make it all ok
And carry me away

No colour in the day to day
Like looking outwards from inside a burned out house
Through the dark glass
blackened by smoke
And the love that lived inside
Replaced by ash

If I could walk under a different sky
Bathe in the colour of the moon
If I could dip into
The pool where we all go down to drink
I'd be ok for a while

It grows inside me while I sleep
Something angry running deep inside my blood
Straining my heart
I'm unaware
And I can only see it when
I see it in your eyes

And when I walk under a different sky
Bathe in the colour of the moon
When I dip into
The pool where we all go down to drink
I'll be ok

Notes

Loosely based on part of Stephen King's novel 'Lisey's Story'. Lisey's husband has the ability to shift himself into a parallel world, where he can rejuvenate and heal himself in the 'pool where we all go down to drink'.

We all need to find some source in our lives that we can go to and draw energy to face the draining realities of our day to day lives, whether it's a place, a person, or something you do. Alcohol and TV numb the reality, but don't rejuvenate us, but things like surfing, creating art or making music, fill us up with life again.
