Apparently I'm Chemical

I can't think straight
Hopelessness and hate
I thought that no one could relate but
But they say it's just chemical

Apparently I'm chemical

Isolation that seems so real
The injuries I cannot heal
The sadness I can't help but feel
Well that's all chemical

Apparently I'm chemical

Molecules and reactions
Account for what I feel
Elements and alchemy
The only thing that's real
Soul self and sanity
Are just fictions of chemistry
Doesn't matter at all
If it's all just chemical

The things I perceive
Does my mind deceive
It's easy enough to relieve
Because it's just chemical

It's not hard to change
We'll fix your brain
Now take your pills and be a good boy
You're just chemical

There's no meaning at all
If it's all just chemical

Nothing matters at all

Notes

A person is a complex mix of meat and spirit. Feelings affect physiology, hormones affect feelings. Our thoughts and feelings are more than the sum of a chemical equation in the brain, but few doctors understand that.

When something is wrong with the whole, a mental illness like depression, we must treat the whole. Trying to treat only the thoughts and feelings leaves us at the mercy of our biochemistry, but treating only the chemical reasons leaves the underlying problems, and the spirit suffers.
