The Gear I Use

This is a quick rundown of what equipment I have and use. Nobody's paying me to use their stuff, so I can tell you honestly what's good and what's just 'stuff I have'.

This is my baby, I've had it since I was about 16 and it has served me well. In high school, we referred to it as the coffeetable, cos it's solid and heavy. An ash bodied 1981 Ibanez Blazer Bass, it's just had a long deserved refurb and now sports a new set of Dimarzio P Bass pickups, with a phase switcher on the tone pot to go from sharp to fat with a click. Very nice.

I used to use Rotosound strings, but they became harder to find in Australia, and also chew up the fretboard a bit. I now have DR High Beam, 45-105s, nice action, easy on the frets and also keep their tone a lot longer than anything else I've tried.

This is a Yamaha RGX112 electric guitar. I'm no guitarist, so I couldn't even tell you if it's any good. This does the job for me. Wears a set of DR electric strings, 10 guage

My acoustic is a blue sunburst Ibanez AEG10. Has a slimline body, Fishman Sonicore pickup, and the Ibanez AEQ-SS onboard EQ. Slimline acoustics can sound a bit thin as they don't have the deep full bodied resonance of the normal sized guitar, but this one does pretty well, and the quality electronics mean a great sound once you plug it in. Once again, DR strings on this one.
